SEASONS GREETINGS

Posted on 06 December 2009 by: David Hegarty

Alamo City has just returned from its trip to Midland, Texas, where they were victorious in their campaign against the Midland Mad Dogs, 22-29.  Two weeks previously, on 21 November 2009, Alamo City hosted Dallas at Brooks Park, and fell, 46-7, snapping a 15-game regular season winning streak, and a 2-year Home Pitch winning streak (both the longest standing in TRU).

The Holidays are upon us, here in San Antonio, and as such, Alamo City RFC will be participating in the Annual Elf Louise Christmas Project, on 19 December 2009.  For those of you not aware, Elf Louise is a charity-organized event held every year around the Christmas holiday, in which members dress as their favourite holiday characters, and deliver Christmas presents to children of less fortunate families.  More details on this event to come.

FIRST MATCH, FAST APPROACHING

Posted on 17 November 2009 by: David Hegarty

This weekend Alamo City RFC will be hosting Dallas at Brooks City Park.  Kick-off is scheduled for 2PM.  Drinks and a social to follow.

At this time there is no new information to pass on to the masses.  November has been a seemingly quiet month on the rugby front, sans this weekend's home-opener.  Training sessions continue as normal; our Tuesday sessions have resumed at Medical Centre, starting at 7PM, and Thursday sessions continue to be held at Medical Centre, starting at 7PM.

THIS WEEK

Posted on 21 October 2009 by: David Hegarty

Thanks to everyone who made the Blue vs. White Fall Match a success.  Fun was had by all who attended.  Another thanks to everyone who helped with the Charity Golf Event.  The club was able to raise a good handful of money for a good cause.  Photos from both events are available now by clicking here.

This weekend Alamo City RFC will be participating in the 7th Annual Day of the Dead Rugby Tournament.  This year, due to time constraints and team availability, this tournament has combined with the annual Southwest Texas Rugby Tournament.  Games start on 24 October 2009 at 9AM.  All members interested in playing must be CIPP'ed by 22 October 2009 at 11:59PM to participate.

REMINDERS:  On Halloween, Saturday, 31 October 2009, Alamo City will be hosting its Halloween Social at the Rugby House.  Costumes are mandatory and there will be a $5 cover at the door to support the club.  Contact David Hegarty for more information: 831-521-8874

Attention All Members!!!  ....you need to be CIPP'ed by 01 November 2009 for the season.  Team fees are also due at this time.  Contact Shayne Roberson at 210-846-4739 with any questions you may have.

ACRFC UPDATES

Posted on 06 October 2009 by: David Hegarty

Alamo City RFC has a lot going on in the month of October.  Here is a recap of some of the events we have planned...

This Saturday, we will be hosting our inaugural Blue vs. White Fall Match.  This match will be an opportunity for some of the Old Boys to come out for a day, meet some of the new players as well as catch up with the seasoned veterans, share a drink, play a friendly on our home pitch, and drink some more.  The venue has been set for 11:00AM, 10 October 2009 at Brooks Park on Pitch #2.

Friday, 16 October 2009, Alamo City will be hosting the annual ACRFC Charity Golf Event at Olympia Hills Golf Course.  This is an exciting event for both current and former players (as well as invited guests) to get together and raise money for a good cause.  For more information on the particulars, click here.

On Halloween, Saturday, 31 October 2009, Alamo City will be hosting its Halloween Social at the Rugby House.  Contact David Hegarty for more information: 831-521-8874

Attention All Members!!!  ....you need to be CIPP'ed by 01 November 2009 for the season.  Team fees are also due at this time.  Contact Shayne Roberson at 210-846-4739 with any questions you may have.

Finally, our Tuesday practice venue has changed!  We will now be practicing at the park at the corner of Babcock Rd. and Hamilton-Wolfe Rd.  Thursday practices will still be held at the Medical Centre fields.  Practice both nights starts promptly at 7:00PM.  Both locations are within a mile of each other, so there should be no confusion as to location and training times.  Contact Brandon Borel at 210-722-4965 with any questions you may have.

2009-2010 SEASON BEGINS

Posted on 19 September 2009 by: David Hegarty

15's Season is Back!

Welcome to another year of Texas Rugby.  The Alamo City Defenders hope to build upon last seasons' momentum.  In the 2008-2009 season Alamo City finished an undefeated regular season, compiling a 10-0 record.  They ventured on to the Western Semi's where they fell to eventual D3 National Champions, Northern State of South Dakota.

Over the Summer months, Alamo City picked up a handful of ROOKIES who helped to catapult The Defenders to the top of TOLA standings, eventually finishing 4th overall in the TOLA Summer 7's Series.

Practice for the 2009-2010 season is now underway at the Medical Centre practice fields.  Sessions run every Tuesday & Thursday from 7PM to 9PM.
