Summer Sevens Series

Posted on 09 April 2010 by: David Hegarty

Alamo City RFC wraps up its 15's season this weekend at Olmos Basin, San Antonio in a rival match versus Austin Blacks.  This year has been one of turbulent change for The Defenders, but, through tenacious efforts, they have pulled, qualifying just outside of TRU Finals.

Nonetheless, the Club looks forward on to the Summer Sevens Series, where in years passed, Alamo City has been built a reputation of fast-paced dominant play, whose last years' results boasts a 14-3-1 record, including several 1st Place tournament finishes.

Sevens practice is scheduled to begin 27 April 2010 at the Medical Centre fields at 7:00PM.  For a look at the Summer Sevens Series schedule click here.

COMING SOON:  Andy Still still sucks!  On 23 April 2010, at Cedar Creek Golf Club, Alamo City RFC will be hosting the 14th annual Andy Still Still Sucks Golf Tournament.  Named after Club Alum (and great Scot) Andy Still, this tournament serves as a grand showcase for Club members, new and old, to get together, whack a few balls, and remind Andy Still, he still sucks.  For more information, contact  Bill Harmon.

COMMUNITY NEWS:  The 21st annual Great Strides: Cystic Fibrosis Walk 10K, an event which supports research to finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis, takes place on 22 May, starting at 08:00AM.  The event will take place downtown San Antonio at the Arneson River Theatre a la Villita on the Riverwalk.  For those interested in participating, please contact Woody Wilson.  Additional  information can be found at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation website: Here.
