Alamo City beat
Austin Blacks II 45 - 26 in
semi finals of Div III Texas State Championships to advance to the final on
Sunday. Many folks agreed
that this was the best Div III game they had seen all year. Two hard hitting and
fast running teams come away with new found respect for each other.
Unfortunately,
that hard hitting game took its toll and
Alamo City went down 27 - 24 in
the final vs the
Oklahoma City Crusaders.
Despite nursing many injuries and resting players, AC almost pulled it off,
coming back strong in the second half after falling behind in the first.
Alamo City now
travels to Omaha NE on April 28th/29th as they head back to the Western's as the
#3 seed. They will face off
against old foes Northern State on Saturday 28th at 11:00am.
Depending on the outcome of that
match, they will then match up with either Oklahoma Crusaders or Kansas City
Blues D3 at either 2:30pm or 4:00pm. It is going to be a hard day of rugby
either way and will need to take a full squad up there to keep momentum going.

Kevin Howell
8/9/1959 - 12/25/2011

It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of
our great friend Kevin Howell on December 25th 2011.
Kevin was a much loved and respected member of Alamo City RFC and
selflessly aided others without question throughout his life. Kevin was
always there for his friends in their times of need.
Kevin had recently been diagnosed with cancer again and over the weekend
of November 19th, 13 past and present members of Alamo City RFC travelled to
Milwaukie, WI to visit and support our great friend at a benefit put on to help
raise funds for his medical expenses. The current Alamo City team raised over $1000 in less than a
week for the travelers to take and present at the Benefit. During that Benefit, over $27,000 was raised from the attendees,
again showing testament to the impact this man had on peoples lives.
Kevin played, captained and coached Alamo City RFC in the 1980s
and 1990s and is a lifelong friend to all who have met him. He overcame leukemia
with his undying optimism, positive attitude and support from his loved ones,
teammates and friends. He is an inspiration to us all.
Rest In Peace Kev and Up the Old Brown Kiwi!
